Biographical notes on  Sandor and Margit Kirsche 

Margit Weisz, was born in Hungary to a large,  Chasidic family. On the day after Pesach, 1944, her family was taken to the   Berekszasz   ghetto,   where   they   remained  until  they  were taken to Auschwitz, on 3 Sivan, 1944. Her mother, grandparents, and three younger brothers were immediately taken to the gas chambers. Margit Weisz was liberated from Torgau   on  April  27,  1945.  

Her  only   surviving    brother,    Morton, brought her to Freising, Germany in December, 1945.  Sandor Kirsche, Z”L, was  the   second  youngest  child   of the Kirschenbaum family born in Hluboka, Czechoslovakia. On March 15, 1939, the Hungarians marched into his hometown and the troubles began. At the age of 15, in 1942, he went to Budapest to work and remained there  until two weeks before  Pesach, 1944. He journeyed home,   only to be taken with his family to the ghetto on the day after Pesach, 1944. They arrived at Auschwitz on the first day of Shavuos, 1944. Most of his family was sent to the gas chamber immediately, but he remained with his father, who was killed in August, and his   younger brother, Chaim, who died in  December of that year. in April, 1945, at the age of 19, he survived the Death March from Buchenwald.
 
Sandor and Margit Kirsche met and married in Freising and arrived in the United States in February 1948. Working since the day they arrived in Chicago, they founded Hungarian Kosher Foods. Sandor Kirsche, Z”L, along with his wife, Margit, were staunch believers in helping provide food for Jews in need. They exemplified faith and courage during times of great challenge, always  believing in Am Yisrael Chai and in the importance of teaching the   future generations of Jewish  children. Sandor Kirsche died on April 27, 2007. He is remembered as a compassionate, warm man of great strength by those who knew him and loved him.
